First entry - AP style sentence corrections

1. The California governor will announce his Cabinet appointments next week at the capitol.
- abbreviate states when the city is in front (ex: Los Angeles, Calif.)


2. A top adviser to the senator promised the bill would have its intended effect.
- noun vs. verb - affect vs. effect
- AP style = adviser w/ an e. hmmm.



3. Upon walking farther into the woods, the state policeman found the doctor lying under a tree.
- lying down vs. laying a present under a tree
- farther is a distance, further is to delve, become more advanced



4. As head coach, Tom Johnson's salary grew from $1.5 million to $3 million from 2006 to 2008.
- must have a "from" with a "to"


5. Mark Workman, public works director for the city of Pullman, said the souce of the discharge had not identified; however, the city will continue to investigate the problem.
- semi-colon corrects a run-on sentence
