Hurricane Katrina photo description
Hurricane Katrina left New Orleans in a state of physical and emotional devestation. People left homeless in the aftermath of the storm crowded into line for bus transporation to the Houston Astrodome, clinging onto any belongings they were able to salvage in backpacks or plastic storage tubs. Their faces express the Residents stranded atop an apartment complex spray painted "Water is rising pleas HELP" into the wet blacktop and waved tattered American flags in an attempt to be rescued. A parking garage was used as a hospital for patients waiting for helicoptor transit from New Orleans. A nurse in crisp green hospital scrubs fanned a patient with her clipboard in an attempt to relieve some of the heat and humidity of the harsh New Orleans weather. Without electricity, dozens of wounded and ill lay on makeshift beds atop the concrete of the garage.
